Tradition Meets Tomorrow: A Japan Study Abroad Experience 2026

Thank you for your application to the Japan Summer 2026 Study Abroad Program. The outline below
describes the financial requirement for being a part of the Japan Study Abroad Cohort.


Cost of Study Abroad Program: $5,000.00; Cost after HIE Scholarship: $4,000.00


This cost covers airfare, transportation while abroad, most meals, lodging and program related 
entrance & activity fees. It can also include other costs as described by program faculty.


Payment Schedule:


To make the cost of the program more affordable, an incremental payment option is available for 
those that want to make payments as outlined below. The total paid in the payment plan will equal 
the full program cost. If you prefer, you may pay the whole amount upfront.


Deposit (non-refundable unless the Program is canceled) $500


Deposit (1st payment) – $500.00 is due ten days after receiving acceptance letter into the program
2nd Payment November 15 - $700.00
3rd Payment December 15 - $700.00
4thPayment January 15 - $700.00
5th Payment February 15 - $700.00
6th Payment March 15 - $700.00
Final Payment - $1,000.00. If you are eligible for the HIE scholarship, you will not make this last 
payment as the scholarship award money will cover it.


If you are accepted into the program after October 15, you’ll need to catch up on any missed 
payments. A personalized payment plan will be created for you to get back on schedule.


Additional Costs:


The amounts below describe additional costs that are associated with Study Abroad. These costs 
are on top of the cost of the program and are not included in the amount above.


1) Tuition and Fees Visit LoneStar.edu/tuition to get an estimated cost of your classes. 
Tuition and fees are separate from the program fee.
2) Books: Textbook expenses for cohort courses usually range from $0–$150. These costs 
are approximate, since many instructional materials are already included in your Program 
Fee. For exact requirements, please check with your cohort professors.
3) Other Expenses: Costs include $730 Approximately. This would Include Passport, meals 
(dinners) not provided by program, and personal spending money.


Refund Policy:


The dates below outline the refund deadlines. Please note the dates below so that you can get a full
refund if you need to withdraw from the program. We are not able to refund any LSC Study Abroad 
scholarship funds. The first $500 of the deposit is non-refundable, unless the full program is 
canceled. Hence, the refund schedule below applies only to all monies paid after the initial deposit. 
The $500 is used to reserve air flight and lodging and cannot be refunded.

January 31, 2026 100% of payments will be refunded (minus non-refundable deposit of $500) 
Only refundable deposits have been purchased from our vendors overseas.
February 29, 2026 50% of payments will be refunded.
Airfare purchased with ticket assigned to student’s name and non-refundable hotel deposits
After March 1, 2026 0% of payments will be refunded unless the program is canceled. In addition
to the above, transportation and some activities may have been purchased
