Thank you for your interest in the 2025 Study Abroad Program to South Korea. The outline below describes the financial requirements of being a part of Study Abroad. The Study abroad is 7 weeks long and is made up of two components.  For the first 3 weeks, students will participate in the Dankook Global Village Program.  The Global Village (GV) is a unique three-week peer-to-peer teaching program where students teach conversation classes in English to small groups of Dankook University students.  For the next 4 weeks, students participate in the academic program. Students from all around the world attend one academic course taught by international and Dankook University professors, for which you can earn transferable credits. These courses include Korean Language classes, Korean Culture, history, and fashion classes. 

 
Cost of Study Abroad Program: $4750; Cost after Scholarship $4000 

All LSC Students who have completed at least 6 hours in the spring semester 2025 and have at least a 2.0 GPA will be eligible for the $750 scholarship.   
 
This cost covers airfare, transportation, housing and tuition at Dankook University while abroad and program related entrance & activity fees for field trips. It can also include some meals and other costs as described by program faculty. 

All students will receive a $1000 stipend for participating in the Global Village program if they are accepted.  This stipend will be paid to them after the completion of the Global Village in approximately the 4th week.   
 
Payment Schedule: To make the cost of the program more affordable, an incremental payment option is available for those that want to make payments as outlined below. The total amount paid is the cost of the program. Payments can be made throughout the year, or in total up front, or using our payment plan. 
 
1st Payment (Deposit) December 1 - $1000 

The Deposit is nonrefundable unless the program is canceled 

2nd Payment January 15 - $1000 
3rd Payment February 15 - $1000 
4th Payment March 15 - $1000 
 
*Payment plans can be customized. 
 
Additional Costs: The amounts below describe additional costs that are associated with Study Abroad. These costs are on top of the cost of the program and are not included in the amount above. 
 
1) Tuition and Fees Visit LoneStar.edu/tuition to get an estimated cost of your class. All students in the South Korea Study Abroad program must take either Government 2304 Introduction to Political Science or EDUC 1301 Introduction to the Teaching Profession.  These courses are 8-week online courses offered through Lone Star.  Students will also take one class at Dankook whose tuition is covered in the program fee.   

2) Books GOVT 2304 uses an Open Educational Resource (OER) so there is no textbook cost. 

    EDUC 1301: Your Introduction to Teaching 4th Edition as an e-book for $10.99 a month. 

 
3) Other Expenses costs may include your passport, meals (all breakfasts and lunches, as well as,  some dinners) not provided by the program, public transportation costs, and personal spending.  
 
 

Refund Policy: 
 
The dates below outline the refund deadlines. Please note the dates below so that you can get a full refund if you need to withdraw from the program. We are not able to refund any LSC Study Abroad scholarship funds. The first $500 of the deposit is non-refundable unless the full program is canceled. Hence, the refund schedule below applies only to all monies paid after the initial deposit. The $500 is used to reserve air flights and lodging and cannot be refunded. 
 
January 15, 2025,        100% of payments will be refunded (minus non-refundable deposit of $1000) Only refundable deposits have been purchased from our vendors overseas. 
 
February 15, 2025,       50% of payments will be refunded. 
Airfare purchased with ticket assigned to student’s name and non-refundable hotel deposits 
 
After March 1, 2025,     0% of payments will be refunded unless the program is canceled. In addition to the above, transportation and some activities may have been purchased.
